## Description

We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our team of staff in the Wards department at Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury. This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week, with a flexible shift pattern.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Assisting patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity

- Helping patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate

- Providing comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment

- Carrying out and accurately recording routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels

- Supporting basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids

- Preparing and maintaining clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use

- Working collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

- Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary)

- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude

- Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately

- Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills

- Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks

- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable

- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures
