## Description

We are seeking an Associate Designer to join our Design team, responsible for Owned Brand product brands and/or categories that achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives.

As an Associate Designer, you will support and be responsible for Owned Brand product brands and/or categories. You will work with an assigned category, brand, business or guest segment and manage your own process and calendar. Your core responsibilities will include:

- Supporting and driving concepts throughout the development process, research, selection of materials/finishes, and the creation of silhouettes/form language

- Translating ideas for product direction using CAD/hand sketches

- Preparing professional presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, and material samples

- Supporting and driving product designs to maintain overall creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points

- Building brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the division to ensure continuity

- Collaborating with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners to identify, troubleshoot and resolve product issues

Requirements:

- Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art or related field, or equivalent experience

- 1+ years of relevant experience

- Computer design system skills including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop

- Experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software

- Experience creating artwork-graphics-print & pattern demonstrated through portfolio/work examples

- Experience creating trend and color palettes

- Experience creating product from a business strategy

- Experience assimilating product feedback

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Experience working in a retail or product development environment

- Ability to build relationships in order to successfully work in a team environment

- Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative and cost-effective design solutions

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
