## Description

Challenge Preparatory Charter School seeks a Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will deliver exceptional instruction, assess student growth, and provide academic and cultural support to students.

Responsibilities:

- Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the progress of all students

- Create academically rigorous and culturally relevant lesson plans, materials, and assessments

- Execute specially designed lesson plans that focus on conceptual understanding and student mastery

- Teach engaging, rigorous, and relevant lessons daily

- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including students, families, and staff

- Commit to a school culture of consistency by implementing school-wide systems and procedures

- Reflect on various data sources to improve practice

- Take on a proactive role in creating a positive, structured, and results-oriented school environment

- Collaborate with colleagues to create, implement, and refine schoolwide and classroom-based systems

- Ensure effective classroom management and develop strong relationships with students

- Develop, implement, and manage individualized behavioral intervention plans

- Actively participate in opportunities to strengthen pedagogical skills and contribute to the learning of colleagues

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Education or History-related field

- New York State Teaching Certification

- Strong understanding of History and its application to real-world problems

- Experience working with high school-aged children in an academic or youth development setting

- Exceptional patience and focus to overcome challenges and achieve results

- Strong classroom management skills and ability to set high expectations

- Detail-oriented and highly organized
