## Description

We are looking for a Country Manager to expand Wise's product offering in South Africa. As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

Responsibilities:

- Expand Wise's regulatory presence in South Africa

- Build and improve relationships with banks, payment partners, and other financial institutions

- Help Product teams build better, faster, and more cost-effective products for customers

- Drive Wise's market expansion strategy from a payments infrastructure, regulatory, and operational partnerships point of view

Key aspects of this role will include:

- Managing the regulatory and licensing process end-to-end

- Building strong relationships with relevant regulators and public-sector stakeholders

- Understanding existing and new regulations and figuring out the best ways for our product to comply with them

- Translating regulatory requirements into product implementations together with our Compliance teams

- Identifying opportunities to offer the best product in the market by taking advantage of our existing and future authorisations

Requirements:

- Able to independently negotiate ideal terms with a clear product vision and strong commercial understanding

- Excellent at managing financial regulatory relationships and constantly creating opportunities to improve them

- Deeply familiar with how financial, payments, and FX regulators work

- Comfortable working with financial, payments, and FX regulation in a changing regulatory environment

- Fluent in English

Nice to have:

- Strong relationships and experience with regulators and payment ecosystem stakeholders in South Africa

- Experience obtaining licences, authorisations, or regulatory approvals in South Africa or comparable markets

- Understanding of South Africa's payments infrastructure and the nuances of the FX, remittance, and cross-border payments market
