## Description

We are seeking a Principal Engineer - Secondary Design to lead and guide our protection and control (P&C) design team across various international transmission and distribution, renewable energy, and battery energy storage system (BESS) substation projects.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and ensure that all engineering outputs meet required standards and deadlines.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading the delivery of secondary design for EHV/HV/MV substations up to 400kV

- Providing technical oversight and approval for key deliverables such as protection philosophies, schematics, and system designs

- Ensuring compliance with client specifications, international standards, and internal quality processes

- Resolving complex technical issues and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams

- Focusing on cost-efficient and innovative solutions

- Reporting and recording engineering changes

- Creating work plans and cost estimates

- Contributing to the risk and opportunity register

- Preparing technical documentation for equipment specifications

- Building and maintaining key client relationships

The ideal candidate will have:

- A degree in Electrical Engineering

- 12+ years of experience in substation secondary engineering, preferably in the renewable industry

- A wide network of industry contacts and clients

- Proven leadership and team management skills

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects

- Strong market knowledge of the UK Power Industry
