## Description

We are seeking three Directors to join the Public Safety Group (PSG) at the Home Office. The roles are:

- Strategy and Operations Director

- Policing Policy Director

- Crime Director

These positions are part of the Senior Civil Service (SCS) Pay band 2 and offer a salary of £105,000 per year.

### Job Summary

The PSG is a critical part of the Home Office, responsible for public safety and national security. We are looking for experienced leaders to join our team and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and strategies that promote public safety and reduce crime.

### Responsibilities

#### Strategy and Operations Director

- Lead the central strategy, risk, corporate, and coordination functions in PSG

- Strengthen alignment between PSG strategy, finance, and people to ensure effective resource deployment

- Deliver spend within budget and achieve workforce targets

- Shape and cohere PSG's key strategic discussions and products

- Provide locally delivered corporate functions, including security, accommodation, and health and safety

#### Policing Policy Director

- Oversee the governance, accountability, and structures of policing

- Ensure the police have the powers and tools to maintain public order

- Direct personal accountability for the Neighbourhood Policing Programme

- Policy and delivery of reforms to local policing structures

- Oversee the PSG Emergency Response Team

#### Crime Director

- Lead the Government's strategic approach to reducing crime and protecting the public

- Drive critical government priorities to reduce crime and improve public safety

- Build and lead effective cross-government and external partnerships

- Focus on crime prevention, particularly for young people

- Lead the Home Office's strategic approach to drugs

### Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

- First-rate strategic and systems leadership skills

- Exceptional political judgement and ability to build strong relationships with ministers

- Experience of delivering and leading at pace and getting things done under pressure

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

- Significant track record of visible and results-focused leadership

Desirable Criteria:

- Experience of policing, crime, and criminal justice issues

- Experience of leading in crisis
