## Description

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Data Management Platform (DMP) team in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA.

The DMP team is at the heart of user understanding for Microsoft Advertising, building and operating large-scale data pipelines, services, and APIs for identity resolution, user segmentation, targeting, and personalization.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead architecture discussions and decisions for complex product designs, drive experiments, collaborate with partner teams, mentor engineers, and establish security best practices.

Responsibilities:

- Lead architecture discussions and decisions for complex product designs

- Drive experiments using feature flags and interpret results

- Collaborate with partner teams for integration, testing, scalability, performance, and incident management

- Mentor engineers on creating and executing thorough test strategies

- Identify dependencies across teams and coordinate collaboration

- Establish and enforce security best practices

- Drive automation in production and deployment processes

- Apply and share best practices for scalable, secure, and performant product development

- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards

- Continuously learn and share knowledge about new technologies and trends

- Develop and improve software engineering tools

- Collaborate with partner teams to ensure seamless integration and testing

- Conduct timely code reviews to ensure quality, test coverage, security, and adherence to best practices

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

- Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience

- Experience with cloud-based technologies and architectures

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $142,800 - $274,800 per year. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
