As Senior Manager – Data Engineering & Machine Learning, you'll lead a team of Data Engineers and Machine Learning specialists, setting technical direction and building on existing work in data foundations and production machine learning.

## Responsibilities

You'll lead the team through platform modernisation and product-facing ML work, focusing on priorities such as:

- Modernising infrastructure for serving production models

- Introducing a feature store for improved feature management and consistency

- Strengthening observability and cost controls

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and developing the team, setting direction and clear ownership

- Building dependable data foundations, improving pipelines and infrastructure

- Strengthening production ML, improving deployment and monitoring

- Advancing marketplace models, improving recommendation and bidder-risk use cases

- Setting direction and priorities with stakeholders

- Shaping the technology strategy as part of the Engineering Management team

## Requirements

You have strong technical judgement and people leadership skills, with experience in either Data Engineering or Machine Learning Engineering, and enough breadth to set direction across the other.

Required skills and experience include:

- Technical depth in one discipline (Data Engineering or Machine Learning Engineering)

- People leadership, experience leading experienced engineers or ML specialists

- Architecture and systems thinking

- Production ML understanding

- Business and product judgement

- Relevant cloud platform experience (GCP, BigQuery, Vertex AI, Kubernetes)

- Streaming and integration experience (Kafka, event-driven systems)

- Clear communication

## Team and Work Environment

- You'll lead a team of eight Data Engineers and Machine Learning specialists across Amsterdam and Lisbon.

- The team works closely with Product, Engineering, Analytics and business stakeholders.

- Specialists own implementation, while you set direction, priorities and clear standards.

- The team supports production data and ML systems, with no on-call rotation.

## Location and Work Arrangement

- This is a hybrid role in Amsterdam, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
