## Description

Autodesk is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the architecture and evolution of our AssetGraph Platform at scale.

In this role, you will drive technical strategy, influence platform direction, mentor engineers, and deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performing systems that support critical business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the architecture, design, and development of platform services using Java, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Redis, and Apache Kafka

- Design and implement distributed, event-driven microservices architectures with a strong focus on scalability, resilience, latency, and observability

- Take end-to-end ownership of platform capabilities, including architecture, engineering practices, software quality, deployment, operational excellence, and production support

- Lead large-scale, complex, and ambiguous technical initiatives from requirements clarification through execution and successful delivery

- Drive technical discussions and alignment across engineering teams, architects, Product Management, and Platform Engineering groups

- Serve as a technical leader during production incidents, driving Root Cause Analysis (RCA), issue resolution, and systemic improvements

- Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence through design reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing

- Influence engineering direction across organizations and enable teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions

- Establish and promote engineering best practices that improve platform reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency

- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical decisions with broader product and business objectives

Minimum Qualifications:

- 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in back-end development and distributed systems

- Extensive hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Redis, and Docker

- Proven experience designing and developing scalable, highly available distributed platforms and microservices

- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional technical initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams

- Strong technical leadership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills

- Ability to make sound architectural decisions while balancing scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability
