## Description

The Product Development Engineer - Wiring Low Voltage is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of wiring harnesses. This role involves direct ownership of the full lifecycle of harnesses, including design, validation, release, and post-launch support, impacting cost, weight, and quality outcomes.

The engineer works within Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team, which aims to deliver a fully electric transportation future. The role offers broad technical exposure across the vehicle development cycle, including digital design, physical build, plant launch support, and post-launch sustained engineering.

Key responsibilities:

- Design wiring harnesses meeting cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets

- Apply Robustness Engineering disciplines and Six Sigma methodologies

- Lead Technical Design Reviews and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders

- Release parts and support the Change Control Meeting process

- Analyze and update the Bill of Material (BOM) and identify required validation and testing

- Generate proposals for cost minimization and design optimization

- Support parts implementation and quality issue resolution at manufacturing and assembly plants

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering

- 2+ years of experience in roles requiring basic 3D CAD knowledge and systems schematics reading

- Experience in presenting to stakeholders, working with materials used in harness design, and managing supplier relationships

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

- 1+ year of experience in roles requiring strong time and project management skills, including experience with Jira
