## Description

PayPal is seeking an experienced financial regulatory attorney to expertly guide PayPal in LATAM and Canada on its mission to remain one of the most trusted brands.

The Legal Director will set the overall direction for the financial regulatory legal team in LATAM and Canada, working closely with legal colleagues who support PayPal in more than 200 markets around the world.

**Essential Responsibilities:**

- Provide strategic legal advice and support to senior management, influencing business strategy and decision making.

- Anticipate regulatory and legal risks, and proactively design strategies to manage them.

- Perform legal and regulatory compliance risk assessments, propose creative solutions, and help advance business objectives.

- Manage escalations, collaborate across teams, and develop solutions to enable business partners to achieve their goals.

- Develop a strong rapport and working relationship with business counterparts across the enterprise.

- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, leading the adoption of cutting-edge legal technologies and best practices.

- Manage legal risks and safeguard PayPal's legal interests, developing forward-looking risk management strategies.

- Provide key inputs as an industry leader and expert, staying ahead of legal trends and influencing industry standards.

**Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:**

- Leading and developing the LATAM & Canada financial regulatory legal team.

- Providing direct regulatory legal advice for operations in Mexico while coordinating and supervising wider regulatory legal work across the Americas.

- Supporting strong relationships with LATAM regulators.

- Maintaining corporate governance for PayPal LATAM entities.

- Monitoring and advising on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting Mexico operations.

**Requirements:**

- 10+ years relevant experience and a Juris doctorate degree.

- Deep, demonstrable financial services regulatory and contract negotiation skills and expertise.

- Experience with oversight by and engagement with regulators in LATAM.

- Familiarity with financial services technology, mobile and alternative payments, and emerging technology.
