## Compensation

The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The salary range for this role is $157K - $196K per year, with additional compensation including equity, performance-related bonuses, and benefits.

## About Team

The Robotics team at OpenAI focuses on unlocking general-purpose robotics and advancing toward AGI-level intelligence in dynamic, real-world environments. The team integrates cutting-edge hardware and software to explore various robotic form factors.

## About Role

As a Technical Commodity Manager - Robotics, you will play a crucial role in scaling OpenAI's hardware supply chain. You will work closely with engineers during R&D to source components, qualify vendors, and manage the procurement process. You will also help establish a full supply chain organization, including buyers, global supply managers, and specialists across various categories.

## Responsibilities

- Partner with engineering teams to source components and manage procurement

- Build and manage supplier relationships

- Evaluate quotes, lead times, and vendor capabilities

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and leadership

- Develop and implement supply chain processes and tools

- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks

## Requirements

- Strong reasoning and analytical abilities

- Solid grounding in supply chain fundamentals

- Comfort with ambiguity and incomplete data

- Direct and clear communication skills

- Experience in the hardware supply chain (exposure to precision machining, gears/mechanical components, EMS, PCBA, electrical/electronic components, contract manufacturing, or JDM relationships is a plus)

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field

## What Success Looks Like

Within the first 6 months, you will have:

- Established yourself as a highly responsive and agile partner to engineering and manufacturing teams

- Developed a strong understanding of critical commodities, suppliers, cost drivers, lead times, and manufacturing constraints

- Identified and mitigated high-priority supply risks

- Built strong relationships with existing suppliers and added credible alternatives

- Established a basic operating system for supply chain management
