## Description

Toast is looking for a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to join the Partner Connect team in Bangalore. The successful candidate will play a role in evolving the architecture to support complex new features and best-in-class monitoring as the company scales.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with UX, PM, QA, and other engineers to build web applications using modern web technologies

- Design systems for automated, self-serve, and fast app development, including sandbox provisioning and a clean path to production

- Define best practices and help choose technologies to evolve the current tech stack while writing world-class applications

- Champion best practices such as quality integration and unit testing

- Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements

- Ensure that all work done by the team is delivered with quality and is appropriately monitored and supported in production

- Raise the technical bar through architecture, design review, and code review, and mentor engineers across levels as the team grows

- Use AI tools in your own workflow and help establish how the team uses them well, including how to critically evaluate what they produce

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)

- 10+ years of experience building backend systems and APIs

- Proficient in Java, Kotlin or other object-oriented languages

- Experience designing platform APIs that other teams depend on

- In-depth understanding of AWS, microservices, distributed systems, and enterprise messaging

- The ability to break down a problem, understand what the consuming team actually needs, and ship a clean solution

- Proficient with traditional databases, comfort with document-based or columnar data stores a plus

- Prior experience with distributed systems, enterprise messaging systems or microservices
