## Description

As a Committee Content Officer in the Committee Office, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the UK's parliamentary democracy. Your work will help members of the House of Lords carry out their responsibilities effectively.

You’ll be part of a collaborative community, working alongside colleagues from a wide range of professions. Together, we make Parliament happen.

You’ll be based on the Parliamentary Estate in Westminster , a unique working environment shaped by history and powered by the people who work here today.

## Job description

Creating and editing content for online platforms is at the heart of this role, using content design principles, accessibility standards, and web best practice guidelines. A strong understanding of different communications channels and what makes content engaging is essential, enabling the development of high-quality digital outputs that effectively connect with users and promote the work of committees.

The role also includes sourcing and producing audio-visual content, such as photography, graphics, and basic video, as well as commissioning more in-depth video projects when required. This ensures a varied and professional digital presence that reflects the importance and impact of committee work.

Alongside content creation, there is a strong emphasis on collaboration and support. The role involves advising committee staff on content design and accessibility, and helping them build confidence in using digital tools, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and high standards across the organisation.

## Person specification

We’re looking for someone who can bring their skills and experience to make a meaningful contribution here.

You’ll have:

- Strong experience of producing engaging online content and applying key principles of content design, accessibility, and online best practice, with experience of using a Content Management System or story-telling tools such as Shorthand.

- Excellent ability to simplify and adapt complex longform information clearly and persuasively; including adapting content for different channels and audiences.

- Experience of evaluating the reach and impact of digital content, including understanding analytics and gathering insight from data as well as best practice to make recommendations.

- Excellent stakeholder management skills and experience of working inclusively with colleagues and stakeholders of all levels, to ensure collaboration and shared objectives are negotiated and met.

- Experience of sourcing relevant audio-visual material to support online content and the ability to produce and edit basic audio-visual content including graphics and short videos.

- Sound decision-making skills with experience of effectively managing and prioritising multiple work streams and the ability to work proactively and independently to identify and resolve problems with minimal supervision.

## Benefits

Alongside your salary of £38,700-£43,100, House of Lords contributes £11,211 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. You’ll also benefit from:

- 30 days annual leave (rising to 35 after one year), plus public holidays
