## Description

We are seeking a Consultant - Head Mechanic to be based in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining IOM boats, vehicle fleet, and motor-operated equipment in good running condition.

The role involves overseeing maintenance of the IOM fleet, which includes a variety of equipment such as pontoon barges, engine skiffs, pickup trucks, forklifts, and generators. The ideal candidate will have experience with a range of engines, including gasoline and diesel, and experience with maritime vessels.

Key responsibilities include:

- Overseeing maintenance of the IOM fleet

- Fixing mechanical issues reported by equipment operators

- Preparing monthly maintenance reports

- Maintaining spare parts inventory

- Coordinating with operators to ensure safe operating conditions

- Operating crane, forklift, or driving trucks as needed

- Performing secondary tasks such as building maintenance

- Diagnosing machine faults and presenting repair plans

- Ensuring work-related injuries are documented

- Adhering to IOM policies and procedures

The consultancy contract will be up to 11 months, and the selected candidate will work under the supervision of the head of sub-office and the logistics officer.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree with four years of relevant work experience, or completed secondary education with six years of relevant work experience. Experience with various engines, maritime vessels, and vehicle electrical systems is essential. Fluency in English is also required.
