## Job Overview

As Anthropic's Public Sector Sales Lead for France, you will be the primary representative of Anthropic to the French State. This is a founding role, responsible for building the public sector team in France from scratch. You will develop the strategy, establish market presence, and foster initial strategic relationships. Reporting to the EMEA South leadership, you will drive the adoption of safe and advanced AI across central government, starting with key ministries.

## Responsibilities

- Develop and implement Anthropic's public sector go-to-market strategy for France, defining initial focus areas, success strategies, and necessary developments.

- Serve as the senior representative of Anthropic to the French State, establishing trusted relationships with ministerial cabinets, senior officials, and digital and technology leaders across major ministries, including defence, finance, and justice.

- Manage the entire sales cycle for initial strategic public sector opportunities, from first engagement through procurement, closure, deployment, and expansion.

- Collaborate with Partnerships, Legal, and Finance to establish market access frameworks required by the State, including resale channels, partnership agreements, and central purchasing bodies like UGAP.

- Work closely with the Public Policy lead in France to align commercial and policy engagement, ensuring consistency with French and European AI strategy and regulation.

- Lead discussions with customers on data sovereignty, security, and compliance (e.g., SecNumCloud and the State's cloud doctrine), working with Security, Legal, and Product teams to meet these requirements.

- Demonstrate value to customers alongside a shared Applied AI architect, cloud providers, and systems integrators, personally handling much of the groundwork in early stages.

- Learn from and contribute to UK and US public sector teams, applying successful approaches in France and sharing insights.

- Develop playbooks, client references, and operational rhythms to enable scaling of a public sector team in France.

## Requirements

- Over 15 years of experience in enterprise technology sales, including significant time leading public sector business units or sales teams selling to French central government.

- Willingness to transition from a leadership role to a hands-on senior individual contributor role with no initial team.

- Proven track record of thriving in zero-to-one environments, such as new markets, business lines, or early-stage companies.

- Experience securing large, complex, transformative agreements with major ministries as the lead negotiator.

- Strong network across central government and credibility to engage at director and cabinet levels, as well as with technical teams.

- Practical knowledge of French public procurement, including tenders, framework agreements, and central purchasing bodies.

- Expertise in data sovereignty, security, and compliance requirements within the French State, with experience leading these discussions with customers.

- Fluency in French and English, with excellent written and spoken communication in both.

- Ability to obtain French security clearance (habilitation) if required.

- Genuine commitment to safe and beneficial AI, with the ability to articulate its importance for public institutions.
