## Description

The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will participate in all Departmental activities as an effective team member, supporting the ED Matron and Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses in the effective running of the Emergency Department.

The aim of this role is to ensure patients are seen, treated, discharged, or transferred within the four-hour emergency access standards.

The post holder will assess care needs, develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

This role will also involve teaching and supervising qualified and unqualified staff and acting as a role model to junior staff.

The post holder will take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients and take charge of the department when necessary.

**Main Duties:**

- Assess care needs and develop programs of care

**Requirements:**

- Degree/Diploma in Nursing or equivalent experience

- Current NMC Registration

- Emergency & Unscheduled Care Course or equivalent

- Knowledge of current Emergency Care issues

- Excellent communication skills

- Commitment to self-development

- Flexible

**Desirable Skills:**

- Advanced Life support course

- Leadership course

- ATNC/TNCC

- Experience of audit, benchmarking standard setting

- Able to lead, train, and motivate a team of staff
