## The Role

As a Director, Sustaining Engineering at Graphcore, you will lead the Sustaining Engineering team in Milpitas, California. The team supports deployed systems and data centre infrastructure, focusing on reliability, serviceability, availability, and continuous improvement.

## Responsibilities and Duties

- Lead and develop the Sustaining Engineering function, setting direction, priorities, and success measures for the team.

- Build, manage, and coach a multidisciplinary engineering team.

- Own the advanced technical support path for complex deployed-system issues.

- Establish and improve processes for failure reporting, analysis, corrective action, and prevention.

- Partner with engineering, operations, and suppliers to resolve reliability issues.

- Use telemetry data to identify trends and prioritize engineering improvements.

- Drive feedback loops from deployed-system performance into design and manufacturing improvements.

- Define requirements for tools, workflows, and data infrastructure.

- Develop scalable approaches to failure analysis.

- Establish metrics and reporting for reliability trends and issue status.

- Ensure effective collaboration across sites and functions.

- Represent sustaining engineering in cross-functional reviews and technical discussions.

- Translate operational learning into strategic recommendations.

## Candidate Profile

### Essential:

- Experience leading sustaining engineering or a related technical function.

- Understanding of deployed-system reliability and root cause analysis.

- Experience building and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.

- Ability to operate at strategic and detailed technical levels.

- Experience working across hardware, firmware, software, and operations teams.

- Strong analytical capability and experience with telemetry data.

- Demonstrated ability to establish scalable engineering processes.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Strong people leadership skills.

### Desirable:

- Experience with large-scale data centre infrastructure.

- Familiarity with failure reporting and analysis systems.

- Experience with fleet telemetry and asset management systems.

- Knowledge of supplier quality engineering and manufacturing quality.

- Experience with statistical analysis and engineering analysis tools.
