## Description

GitLab is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer (Go) for its Continuous Delivery team. As a foundational technical leader, you will work on a high-visibility greenfield initiative at the intersection of GitLab's core platform and its AI strategy.

The role involves leading technical execution on the CD platform, solving high-complexity engineering problems, setting and maintaining the technical bar across the codebase, mentoring engineers, and representing the CD team in cross-functional engineering discussions.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading technical execution on the CD platform

- Solving high-complexity engineering problems

- Setting and maintaining the technical bar across the codebase

- Mentoring engineers at all levels

- Representing the CD team in cross-functional engineering discussions

- Participating in on-call rotations

Requirements:

- Deep professional experience building backend services in Go

- Demonstrated expertise in distributed systems design

- Extensive experience leading or contributing to release orchestration, deployment automation, or continuous delivery systems at scale

- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes at production scale

- Strong familiarity with GitOps workflows and tools

- Experience with policy-based governance in software delivery systems

- Proven ability to translate complex architecture into clear, executable engineering work

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have:

- Experience with AI engineering or building AI-integrated product features

- Ruby on Rails experience

The GitLab CD team is a newly formed group within the Deploy stage, working closely with adjacent teams across Verify, Runner, and Infrastructure.
