## Description

We are looking for an experienced full stack Engineering Manager (with a focus on UI) who is passionate about building large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure in a fast-paced agile environment.

The ideal candidate will be excited about joining a platform team that is driving several cross functional initiatives within the company. You will be the people leader and strategic steward for the UI Platform team, accountable for team health and strategic roadmap delivery, and empowering Staff/ Principal Engineers to define and drive the technical vision for Okta’s UI platform infrastructure.

You will work with a globally distributed engineering team to build the frameworks and systems that empower all feature teams to effectively deliver world-ready software. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining shared libraries and tools used across the entire organization, ensuring accessibility, scalability, and adherence to Okta’s coding standards.

In this role, you’ll get to:

- Recruit, mentor, and support a team of skilled engineers, fostering a strong, collaborative culture and keeping the team motivated and engaged.

- Own the roadmap and execution. You will partner with product and stakeholder teams to define the team's strategy and roadmap. You'll be responsible for prioritizing work and ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality, reliable services.

- Translate high-level product objectives into a clear, prioritized technical roadmap, ensuring adequate resourcing and architectural guidance for key initiatives like internationalization and localization.

- Drive engineering excellence. You will hold the team to a high standard of quality, reliability, and operational robustness, championing best practices in software development, from design reviews to incident management.

- Master cross-functional collaboration. You will serve as the key interface between your team and stakeholders across product, engineering, and customer service, ensuring alignment and smooth execution on complex, cross-team initiatives.

- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence within the team.

Minimum Requirements

- 10+ years of software development experience

- 2+ years of engineering management experience as a people manager

- Expertise in software architecture and implementation, with a strong development background in a language like Java, Python, or C++, and significant experience with frameworks such as Spring, React.js, or Node.js.

- A strong grasp of software engineering designs, principles, and practices, with a focus on building scalable and maintainable systems.

- You have strong communication skills and can distill complex concepts into simple, easy to understand narratives

Nice to have

- Experience defining and implementing internationalization and localization strategies for large-scale enterprise applications.

- Deep, specialized knowledge of Unicode, ISO standards, and localization frameworks, with a proven track record of applying this knowledge to solve complex, company-wide globalization challenges.

- Familiarity with globalization testing processes
