## Description

Electronic Arts is seeking an experienced Principal Founding Engineer to lead the technology behind AI-native products. As a hands-on, full-stack role, you will architect products end-to-end, focusing on scalable backend systems and AI-assisted coding.

The future of entertainment is interactive, and Electronic Arts' Ventures Group plays a crucial role in building content, culture, and community that transcend gaming. The team develops consumer experiences, such as mobile apps, web products, and companion products, along with platform capabilities like social features, predictions, and live content.

As a Principal Founding Engineer, you will:

- Own the technical architecture and direction of Ventures products end-to-end

- Develop scalable backend systems, including gRPC services, event streaming, and durable workflows

- Build platform capabilities that multiple products and existing EA games can share

- Design features end-to-end across service and client boundaries

- Develop with AI coding agents as a core part of your workflow

- Own production, including environments, deployments, and infrastructure as code

- Release user-facing changes safely through feature flags and staged rollouts

- Integrate with EA platform services and third-party sports data and AI providers

- Set engineering standards for code review, testing, and architectural decisions

- Partner with product and design to shape roadmaps and turn ideas into technical plans

- Support and onboard new engineers joining the team

Your success will be measured by:

- Speed from idea to testable product

- Reliability, performance, and scalability of products in production

- Delivery of high-quality features across backend and clients

- Quality of architectural decisions and maintainability of systems

- Safe and observable releases

- Effective use of AI coding agents

- Clear technical direction and cost-efficient operation of cloud infrastructure

To be successful in this role, you should have:

- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience

- Deep backend expertise designing and operating scalable distributed systems

- Experience with event-driven and real-time architectures

- Strong data modelling skills across relational, document, and in-memory stores

- Experience running production services in the cloud

- Experience building software with AI coding agents

- Fluency in web and mobile development

- Proven ability to own a system end-to-end and make sound technical decisions

- Experience shipping user-facing changes safely

- Experience building real-time, social, sports, gaming, or entertainment products
