## Description

Coordinates and delivers interpretation and translation services for individuals with limited English proficiency across Intermountain Health facilities and virtual services.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5:30PM Location: Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah

**Responsibilities:**

- Interpret medical and general information with high accuracy and completeness

- Interpret complex medical information, demonstrating expert knowledge of medical terminology and the healthcare system

- Act as a cultural mediator, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and superior intercultural communication skills

- Adhere to the National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Healthcare Interpreters

- Manage time productively and respond to requests in a timely manner

- Use computer, software, and electronic tools for research, data entry, and communication purposes

- Translate written material into one or more languages, maintaining meaning, context, and localisation

- Act as a liaison between Language Services leadership and assigned units and clinics

- Train and mentor interpreters and assist in identifying, testing, and training qualified bilingual staff

**Requirements:**

- Successful completion of a pre-hire skills assessment

- Excellent oral and written command of both source and target language(s)

- Active national certification as a Healthcare or Medical Interpreter from CCHI or NBCMI

- Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

- Prioritise and multi-task

- Interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Four years of experience working as a medical interpreter in healthcare settings

- Bachelor’s Degree in Interpretation or Translation, Languages or Communications

- State Certified Medical Language Interpreter License by DOPL

- Completion of a college-level medical terminology course

- Knowledge of EPIC
