## Description

We're changing the way we do things at Marks & Spencer, putting innovation at the heart of our operations. You’ll be joining our M&S Platform team as a Software Engineering Manager, managing a team building an AI Engineering platform. Your mission will be to streamline development for 200+ engineers and 30+ applications.

You will be responsible for engineering excellence within your team, cultivating self-management and accountability, and leading alignment with the overarching technical strategy. You will also act as a platform owner, applying product thinking to what is being built.

Key responsibilities include:

- Being accountable for engineering excellence within your teams

- Cultivating self-management and accountability throughout the team

- Leading alignment with the overarching technical strategy

- Acting as a platform owner with product thinking

- Collaborating with the entire engineering leadership

- Line management of supporting Staff and Senior Engineers

- Driving recruitment and retention within the team

Requirements:

- Previous polyglot hands-on senior software engineer experience

- Excellent knowledge in AI coding tools and agentic technologies

- Extensive background in software engineering with several years’ experience in various systems and technologies

- Experience building and leading teams of highly skilled, senior software engineers

- Excellent understanding of system design, software architecture, cloud, and software engineering standard methodologies
