## Description

The Armed Security Officer II (Plant Miller) position ensures security of APC Corporate Headquarters, Generation sites, associated facilities, critical systems, equipment, operations, and persons.

This role operates multiple electronic security systems, enforces company policies and criminal laws, controls access to company property, responds to requests for security services and alarms, and coordinates the activities of public safety, medical, and other personnel during emergency situations.

Key responsibilities include:

- Directing and controlling vehicle and pedestrian traffic

- Conducting preliminary investigations of security violations and preparing detailed reports

- Assessing current physical security, security systems, policies, and making recommendations for enhancements

- Monitoring and responding to intrusion alarms, video surveillance, and access control events

- Dispatching and coordinating with supervisors and other personnel

The successful candidate will be part of a well-trained security organization charged with ensuring safety of personnel and the security of the Bulk Electric System (BES) throughout the Southeast.

The position requires:

- Bachelor's/Associates degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

- Minimum 3 years of law enforcement, military, private or industrial security preferred

- Availability to work shift work, holidays, overtime, during inclement weather, and call-outs

- Passing a psychological test, drug test, initial Firearms Evaluation, and Internal Threat Program

- Qualifying for firearm use and re-qualifying annually with the semi-auto pistol

- Obtaining a valid state firearm permit and driver's license
