The Legal Intern (Summer Law Clerk) will support Valvoline Global Operations' (VGO) in-house legal department during the summer term, working under the guidance of an Associate Counsel. This position provides law students with a structured opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic, global corporate legal environment.

Responsibilities Include:

- Legal Research and Analysis:

- Conduct legal research on federal, state, and international issues affecting business operations.

- Analyze statutes, regulations, and case law to support legal team decision-making.

- Summarize findings in written legal memoranda or presentations.

- Document Drafting, Review, and Maintenance:

- Assist in reviewing and organizing contracts, compliance documents, litigation document production, and internal policies.

- Draft various documents, including addenda, assignments, position statements, subpoena responses, and demand letters.

- Assist in processing various agreements, including final review and signature coordination.

- Draft legal correspondence, research summaries, and basic contract templates.

- Support the preparation of presentations, reports, and other legal documentation.

- Corporate Legal Support:

- Aid in tracking regulatory developments, contract renewals, and legal deadlines.

- Participate in internal meetings related to compliance, ethics, and corporate governance.

- Help organize and maintain digital legal files, contracts, and reference materials.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Compliance, HR, Procurement, and Operations) to gain exposure to legal support across business units.

- Participate in assigned team projects, contributing a legal perspective under supervision.

- Learning & Development:

- Attend scheduled legal department meetings and intern development sessions.

- Observe and shadow in-house counsel to better understand corporate law practice.

- Attend and observe court appearances, depositions, business meetings and mediations.

What You'll Need:

- Enrollment in an accredited law school, ideally entering 2L or 3L year.

- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

- Demonstrated interest in corporate law, employment law, contracts, compliance, or related areas.

- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to relate to and inspire confidence with sophisticated business groups.

- A collaborative, professional, and proactive mindset and a high-level of confidentiality.

- Must be able to work on-site at VGO's Cincinnati, OH Global Headquarters (opening in spring of 2027)
