## Description

We are seeking a School Crossing Guard to work on an hourly basis, ensuring the safe crossing of children at designated school crossings during peak hours.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Directing children and traffic at street intersections to ensure safe crossing

- Recording license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and reporting infractions to the Crossing Guard Coordinator

- Escorting children across the street as needed

- Placing traffic cones at designated points and removing signs at the end of shifts

- Inspecting crossing signage and street conditions for damage and notifying authorities as needed

- Monitoring children's behavior and educating them on traffic safety procedures

- Communicating safety hazards to the Crossing Guard Coordinator

The role requires:

- Some knowledge of local traffic laws and basic traffic safety

- Ability to see, hear, and quickly respond to emergency safety situations

- Effective communication skills

- Regular and prompt attendance during school hours within the Salt Lake City School District

- Ability to work in all weather conditions

- Neat appearance

- At least 18 years of age

The position involves light physical work, including walking or standing for extended periods, and exposure to changing weather conditions.

The hourly rate for this position is $19.49.
