## Description

PayPal is seeking a Staff-level Engineer to own the administration and production operations of its Slack Enterprise Grid environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring messaging reliability, assessing apps and integrations, managing retention and export configurations, and responding to service degradation.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of PayPal's network and security infrastructure

- Architect and integrate networks across multiple business units and diverse cloud environments

- Champion the use of Infrastructure as Code processes to automate and maintain infrastructure consistency

- Oversee the configuration, deployment, and management of F5 Local Traffic Managers and Advanced Security Modules

- Create and implement strategies for integrating cloud Virtual Private Clouds, interconnects, and direct connects

- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the network's scalability and resilience

- Work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure network designs meet cross-functional requirements

- Run day-to-day administration and production operations of Slack Enterprise Grid

- Approve, scope, and revoke apps, integrations, and AI agents

- Configure and defend retention, legal hold, eDiscovery, and audit evidence

- Lead high-severity messaging incidents to root cause and work Slack vendor cases to closure

- Script against the Slack Admin, Discovery, Audit Logs, and Web APIs

- Build and run surrounding bots, pipelines, and connectors as real cloud services

- Set the multi-year direction and standards for the platform

- Partner with the AI platform team to feed Slack context to enterprise AI with permissions intact

Requirements:

- 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree

- 10+ years in enterprise messaging and collaboration engineering, including 4+ years on Slack Enterprise Grid at 5,000+ users

- Strong Slack administration skills

- Real scripting in Python or PowerShell against Slack APIs

- Production cloud experience with Terraform or equivalent, CI/CD, secrets management, and workload identity

- Experience with Entra ID, SAML/SSO, SCIM, conditional access, and OAuth 2.0
