## Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join our team at Samsara, a pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud. You will play a key role in defining the future of physical operations and shaping our product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring.

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and run with them. You will define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to the customer-facing UI. You will design and ship full-stack features end to end, working across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile to deliver AI-powered products that solve real operational problems.

You will partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous, real-world problems into clear technical plans and measurable outcomes. You will build and scale the systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and the workflows that put intelligence into the hands of operators. You will raise the bar for the engineers around you through code reviews, design reviews, technical mentorship, and by setting a standard for quality, velocity, and craft.

The ideal candidate will have:

- 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including building and operating production systems at scale

- Strong full-stack fundamentals, with proficiency in modern languages and frameworks (Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar)

- Demonstrated experience leading cross-team or cross-org projects from inception through rollout, including managing ambiguity, driving alignment, and delivering measurable impact

- Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products

- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders

In terms of compensation, the annual base salary for this role ranges from $154,700 to $260,000 USD. The role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance.
