## Description

The Personalization team at Spotify makes deciding what to play next easier and more enjoyable for listeners. We're behind features like Blend and Discover Weekly. As a Director of Engineering, you'll lead the Conversation Product Area, focusing on building a shared Agent Engine, evaluation infrastructure, and platforms like Search Brain and Speak.

You'll own engineering execution and technical direction for the Conversation Product Area, including the Agent Engine, evaluation infrastructure, Search platform, AI Voice platform, and consumer agentic features. You'll co-lead the Product Area with a product counterpart, managing a team of ~70 engineers, and drive the migration of existing agentic infrastructure onto the shared Agent Engine.

Responsibilities:

- Own engineering execution and technical direction for the Conversation Product Area

- Co-lead the Product Area in a paired product/engineering model

- Manage a team of ~70 engineers

- Drive the migration of existing agentic infrastructure onto the shared Agent Engine

- Own the technical strategy for Spotify's first-party voice investment

- Define and hold the technical bar on evaluation

- Set and enforce engineering quality standards

- Participate as a full member of the broader leadership group

- Represent the Conversation PA's engineering point of view in high visibility, company-wide architecture and steerco conversations

Requirements:

- Deeply technical, not tech-adjacent

- Experience running large engineering orgs through platform consolidations, migrations, or evolutions

- Experience with at least two of: LLM-based agent systems, evaluation/eval-infrastructure design, large-scale retrieval or search systems, or speech/voice ML systems

- Track record of building strong but nimble teams
