The GenAI team leads AI-powered security and innovation across Okta, creating AI-powered security services and chat experiences.

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer on the Generative AI team, you will shape and accelerate Okta's Generative AI strategy across model development, infrastructure, and platform services. You will design and implement production-ready AI/ML systems at scale, driving technical decisions and balancing simplicity, flexibility, reliability, and performance.

Key responsibilities:

- Architect and deploy robust Machine Learning and GenAI systems

- Drive technical decision-making and balance key factors

- Lead initiatives to optimise and deploy agentic applications

- Partner with teams to design AI-powered experiences

- Design and implement scalable infrastructure and platform services

- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver secure AI/ML systems

Requirements:

- 7+ years of software development experience with strong Python expertise

- Hands-on experience with applied machine learning and Generative AI platforms

- Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and knowledge-base workflows

- Experience with AI agent frameworks and ML frameworks

- Ability to collaborate with product and engineering teams

- Experience building tools or infrastructure for AI/ML applications

Nice to haves:

- Experience integrating AI-driven systems with identity, authentication, or security products

- Exposure to ethical AI, model risk, or compliance frameworks

- Familiarity with evaluation datasets or synthetic data generation

The annual base salary range for this position is between $168,000-$231,000 CAD. Okta offers equity, bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, and paid leave.
