## Description

Leidos Defense is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer for its Hypersonics line of business. The selected candidate will support the Thermal Protection System (TPS) program of the Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB).

**Primary Responsibilities**

- Create and maintain Technical Data Package (TDP) artifacts, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications.

- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.

- Revise existing designs and develop new designs to enhance producibility and process efficiency.

- Collaborate within integrated product teams (IPTs) to support drawing updates and production efforts.

- Support production activities, including troubleshooting mechanical issues and assisting with corrective actions.

- Assist in dispositioning non-conformances and supporting root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

- Independently manage tasks and projects with guidance from senior engineers.

**Basic Qualifications**

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with 2+ years of relevant experience.

- Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.

- Experience working within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environments.

- Basic understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis.

- Understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and configuration management processes.

- Experience supporting issue resolution in a production environment.

- Willingness to facilitate technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including design, peer, and tabletop reviews.

- Strong attention-to-detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Active security clearance.

- Experience supporting DoD programs related to missile systems, reentry vehicles, or hypersonic technologies.

- Design and/or Integration experience in Thermal Protection Systems for hypersonic vehicles.

- Experience in composites design/analysis/manufacturing.

- Prior work in assembly, integration, or testing of missile systems.

- Experience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced engineering programs.

- Familiarity with AS9100 aerospace quality management systems.

- Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Package (TDP) development.

- Experience creating engineering drawings using PTC Creo and managing data in Windchill.

- Understanding of cost, schedule, and programmatic impacts associated with engineering deliverables.

The salary range for this position is $69,550.00 - $125,725.00.
