## Description

We're looking for a Staff Backend Software Engineer to join our Revenue Engine Team. As one of two staff engineers in the group, you'll partner with engineering leadership to set technical direction across our Payment Platform and Clearinghouse Platform teams. You'll lead the design of fault-tolerant, observable, and deeply reconciled integrations with third-party services and build the abstractions and standards that let dozens of adjacent engineering teams ship faster and more safely on top of our platform.

You'll work closely with our engineering team to solve complex distributed systems problems with real consequences, such as concurrency, idempotency, and partial failures. You'll also mentor senior engineers across both pods and shape the operational excellence that this domain demands.

Our stack includes languages like TypeScript and Python 3, frontend frameworks like React, Remix, and Next.js, and backend and storage solutions like FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Postgres, Redis, and Snowflake. We also use infrastructure like AWS, Temporal, Kafka, and ops tools like Datadog, Sentry, and PagerDuty.

As a Staff Backend Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for defining the solution, pulling in the right people across teams, and keeping things moving when priorities shift. You'll make technical decisions that optimize for maintainability and scale, not just shipping speed. You'll also be a mentor by default, pulling engineers into design discussions without being asked, and teaching through code reviews.
