## About the Team

The **Software** team builds both external- and internal-facing products across io. Our internal tools power teams across hardware, operations, design, research, and software, enabling the organization to move quickly and operate at scale. We focus on usability, reliability, and security while supporting rapid iteration and experimentation.

## About the Role

As a **Full-Stack Engineer**, you will design and build end-to-end web systems that serve both customers and internal teams. You’ll own the design and implementation of full-stack solutions—from early prototypes to production-ready systems—making thoughtful trade-offs around usability, security, and long-term maintainability.

We’re looking for pragmatic builders with strong product instincts who move fast without compromising quality or security. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and cross-functional partners to identify pain points, prototype solutions, and take them from zero-to-one into reliable systems.

This role is based in **San Francisco, CA**. We use a **hybrid work model** of four days in the office per week and offer **relocation assistance** to new employees.

## **In this role, you will:**

- Design, build, and maintain web applications for external customers.

- Design, build, and maintain internal tools used across hardware, research, design, operations, and software teams.

- Rapidly prototype and iterate on new tools in close collaboration with stakeholders.

- Architect and deliver full-stack solutions with a strong emphasis on usability and security.

- Evaluate third-party and open-source solutions and make sound build vs. buy decisions.

- Establish best practices for internal tooling, including code quality, reliability, and security.

## You might thrive in this role if you:

- Have 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on full-stack web development.

- Are proficient in rapidly building user-facing products and internal applications.

- Have experience working from zero-to-one on early-stage products and iterating quickly based on feedback.

- Bring a strong understanding of security principles and best practices for protecting sensitive data.

- Are familiar with a broad range of modern front-end and back-end frameworks and tools.

_(Nice to have)_ Have experience building internal tools for multidisciplinary teams (hardware, research, operations).

_(Nice to have)_ Have a track record of effectively selecting and integrating third-party or open-source solutions.

_(Nice to have)_ Have strong design instincts and experience collaborating closely with designers.

_(Nice to have)_ Are familiar with infrastructure and deployment for internal systems (e.g., containerization, CI/CD).

_(Nice to have)_ Have experience balancing speed with security and reliability in production environments.
