## Description

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) directorate. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our data infrastructure and processes.

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of SQL and T-SQL, data warehouse architectures, and data modeling techniques. You will be responsible for designing, building, and testing data products, as well as providing quality assurance and code reviews of other developers' work.

Key responsibilities:

- Monitor and troubleshoot data processing systems to ensure uptime and reliability

- Develop and maintain data integration solutions for combining data from various sources

- Provide quality assurance and code reviews of other developer's work

- Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving data infrastructure and processes

- Implement and maintain data backup and recovery processes to ensure data availability in case of system failures

- Develop and maintain documentation and training materials to support data infrastructure and processing pipelines

- Manage data platforms, such as data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage systems

- Ensure that data is secure and compliant with relevant regulations, such as GDPR

Requirements:

- 5 GCSE passes (including Maths and English) at Grade 4 (C) or above; or relevant professional experience

- Evidence of continuing professional development

- Expert knowledge of SQL and T-SQL

- Knowledge of ETL and ELT tools

- Expert knowledge of Data warehouse architectures and Data modeling techniques

- Experience in Microsoft Fabric, ETL tools, Azure Cloud Computing, SQL coding, MSSQL stack, SQL server optimization, database design, SQL server troubleshooting, agile methodologies, and unit testing
