## Description

We are seeking an intern to support the Special Situations Portfolio Team at Bain Capital on portfolio management related data analytics and web-based front-end development for data visualization.

The Portfolio Group works side-by-side with the Deal team at Bain Capital, focusing on value creation for the entire portfolio of assets. This includes identifying strategic, operational, organizational, financial, M&A, and exit value creation opportunities, providing extensive support to portfolio company management, and implementing change through influence, project management, leadership, and direction of external advisors and counterparties.

As an intern, you will be responsible for:

- Supporting the Special Situations Portfolio Team on portfolio management related data analytics and web-based front-end development for data visualization required in standard business reports

- Working with existing backend data infrastructure and developing web-based frontend applications using HTML, JavaScript, and other technologies

- Maintaining and enhancing existing backend infrastructure using Python scripting

- Interacting with data in SQL databases and leveraging charting APIs to produce custom complex chart outputs from data grids

- Collaborating with the team to distill key insights from complex technical situations and communicate effectively

Requirements:

- Experience with web-based frontend development (HTML, JavaScript, etc.)

- Strong Python scripting capabilities

- Experience with data visualization technologies (e.g., charting APIs)

- Experience with cloud-based computing environments (e.g., AWS)

- Experience with interacting with data in SQL databases

- Strong execution ability and independent problem-solving skills

- Good communication skills and ability to distill key insights from complex technical situations

- Familiarity with basic business/investment concepts

- Preferably experience working with financial institutions in a similar context

- Based in Hong Kong and able to work on-site 3-5 days per week

Internship period: August to end of the year in 2024
