The Home Page & Merchandising Platform team at Deliveroo owns the backend that powers the homepage experience for millions of customers. You'll work closely with Product and Design, contribute to a platform that's evolving alongside Deliveroo's broader integration with DoorDash and Wolt, and help shape how we build at scale.

**What You'll Be Doing**

- Drive technical execution by designing, building, and scaling backend services and frontend components that handle high-traffic workloads (20krpm and above).

- Lead architectural improvements and code reviews, ensuring the efficiency, visibility, and operational health of your team's systems.

- Partner with cross-functional disciplines (PMs, Experience Designers) to plan projects, foresee dependencies, and mitigate technical risks.

- Break down complex problems into deliverable choices, influencing the roadmap and technical direction within your team.

- Support the growth of others by mentoring colleagues and taking an active role in our engineering hiring process to build high-performing teams.

**What You'll Need to Thrive**

- Significant experience building web-based applications in a modern stack; we use Go, Ruby, Python, and Scala, and we're looking for someone keen to work across them.

- Proven ability to design and operate web architecture at scale, specifically with systems handling significant request volumes.

- Demonstrated ownership of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience with "NoSQL" backends such as Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch.

- A commitment to software craft, with a pride in writing readable, well-designed, and thoroughly tested code.

- Strong collaborative leadership skills, with a track record of guiding implementation choices and supporting the personal growth of teammates.
