## Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated backend engineer to join our Internal Tools team. Our team owns the design and implementation of our next-generation internal tools platform , a new advertiser management platform that unifies several legacy systems under a single, modern foundation, with a focus on high-performance middleware and backend services.

You will play a central role in building this platform from the ground up: designing APIs and services, shaping the data model, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities:

- Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems.

- Develop APIs, microservices, and other server-side components that power platform features and functionality.

- Contribute to the architecture and design of backend systems, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, and performant.

- Design and optimize relational database schemas and queries that serve as the system of record for the platform.

- Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and implement new features and improvements.

- Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues, provide effective solutions, and optimize system performance.

- Maintain high standards for code quality, including thorough testing, code reviews, and documentation.

- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating and recommending new tools, frameworks, and libraries.

Requirements:

- 6+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a track record of designing and delivering high-performance systems.

- Proficiency in Java, with experience in additional languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, Go) being a plus.

- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.

- Solid knowledge of RESTful API design, best practices, and implementation.

- Strong expertise in relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL), including schema design, query optimization, and reasoning about data integrity and consistency.

- Experience with NoSQL databases or analytical warehouses (e.g., BigQuery) is a plus.

- Practical, hands-on experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as part of your daily development workflow.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
