## Description

WSP is seeking a Substation Area Lead for their Freeport, ME office. The successful candidate will manage a team of drafters, designers, and engineers, and oversee various project responsibilities.

The Substation Area Lead will provide technical assistance and guidance for multi-site projects, focusing on utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sectors. Key responsibilities include:

- Acting as a trusted advisor to the Department Manager, with regular communication and reporting

- Managing financial and technical aspects of Substation team performance, including resource planning and budget support

- Supporting proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling

- Contributing to proposals, project design, and QA/QC activities

- Directing the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage substations, including preparing one-line diagrams and substation layouts

- Exercising responsible decision-making regarding company funds and resources

The ideal candidate will have:

- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

- 5-7 years of relevant post-education experience in substation design

- Demonstrated leadership experience with substation projects and client teams

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and mentor others

Preferred qualifications include 7+ years of experience in substation design and a Professional Engineering License (PE).

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
