## Description

We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer 5 to join our Global Workforce Services team at Capital One. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.

**Responsibilities:**

- Lead a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company

- Architect performant, responsive web interfaces and real-time streaming AI chat/agent interfaces using modern frameworks (Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS)

- Build resilient, high-throughput microservices and APIs (Python/FastAPI, Node.js/TypeScript) with support for Server-Sent Events (SSE) and WebSockets for real-time AI responses

- Integrate AI agent capabilities into core enterprise systems, databases, third-party APIs, and legacy software via tool-calling and function-calling paradigms

- Architect and integrate heterogeneous AI systems - including rule-based, retrieval-augmented, and generative components - into unified production pipelines

- Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community

- Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment

- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams, shaping system architecture and long-term technology direction

- Drive end-to-end design and implementation of large-scale, distributed, or cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements

- Partner with architects and product leaders to define platform roadmaps and shared services strategy

**Requirements:**

- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)

- At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field

- +2 years experience building production RAG pipelines (chunking, embeddings, vector indexing, graph RAG, or fine-tuning)

- +2 years experience leveraging Agentic patterns (Tool Calling, ReAct loops, Plan-and-Execute, Multi-Agent Collaboration)

- +2 years with LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel) and model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, Ollama, Hugging Face)

- +2 year experience in building agentic AI systems and agentic workflows

- +2 year experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies (e.g. LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) using Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang

**Salary:** McLean, VA: $229,900 - $262,400 for Full-stack Engineer 5 Richmond, VA: $209,000 - $238,500 for Full-stack Engineer 5
