## Description

The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer to join our Data Analytics Engineering & Integration team. As a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer, you will own the entire design lifecycle of our data-driven applications and platforms, combining UI/UX craft with product strategy to optimize supply chain operations, engineering processes, and manufacturing efficiencies.

Responsibilities:

- Own the full design lifecycle of data products – from early product concepts and high-level workflows to micro-interactions and crisp, effective visual design.

- Develop a strategic vision and product roadmap for data products and solutions that support supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing functions, aligning design decisions with company objectives, roadmap goals, and market demands.

- Build and iterate on a working ontology – modeling objects, properties, links, and actions – so applications are grounded in a shared, accurate representation of BDS operational data.

- Conduct user research: run surveys, interviews, scripted usability tests, contextual inquiry, and A/B testing to understand user pain points and needs; visit customer offices to learn from the users we serve.

- Pair qualitative research with quantitative signals such as product and usage metrics to validate decisions and prioritize work.

- Build wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes, both to communicate designs and to validate decisions.

- Establish and maintain the design system: typography, color palettes, components, and micro-interactions that keep the product consistent and scalable.

- Ship hands-on: prototype and build out products alongside engineers, treating them as partners; be fluent enough using Palantir Foundry.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams – product managers, developers, and researchers – to balance user goals with technical and business constraints.

- Define and document product requirements, including data sources, data processing, and analytics capabilities; manage and prioritize the product backlog based on changing requirements.

- Oversee all stages of product creation including design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring products meet quality and performance standards.

- Write strong user stories that capture complete requirements and relate to portfolio value.

- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and impact of data solutions; track and analyze product performance metrics and prepare reports and presentations for senior management.

- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

- Participate in Scrum meetings and product sprints as a leader and champion of the SAFe process.

Requirements:

- 3+ years’ experience with taxonomy and ontology development

- 5+ years of experience in preparing, conducting and analyzing user research

- 5+ years’ experience with analytics tools including Tableau, SQL, R, and Python

- 5+ years’ experience with products developed using Agile software development practices and familiarity with Tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence

- Experience working within a Scrum team or in similar Agile project setups

- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

- Experience with product design and processes

- 5+ years’ experience working with aerospace systems?

Preferred Qualifications:

- Palantir Foundry hands-on experience at a Level 5 / expert tier – building operational applications on an ontology.

- Experience as a hands-on designer who ships code every week, or a researcher who shares detailed user research findings with the team.

- Experience in the aerospace industry, supply chain, manufacturing and engineering.

- 10+ years of experience in a technology or design leadership role

Benefits:

- Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities

- Health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs

Salary Range: $182,750--$264,500
