## Description

This Commercial Manager role is based nationally and contributes to delivering commercial excellence for the Ministry of Justice. You will provide a customer-focused service, understand business needs and stakeholder drivers, and act as a trusted commercial advisor. The Ministry of Justice spends over £5 billion with suppliers annually, and the Commercial team coordinates procurement and contract management across the department, its agencies, and non-departmental public bodies.

The role involves leading and owning elements of the commercial lifecycle, including strategy and policy development, understanding needs and sourcing options, contract and supplier management, and the procurement process. You will work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing and managing your workload to deliver deadlines, mitigating and escalating risks, and responding to changing operational demands.

Key responsibilities include:

- Strategic delivery and management within a category

- Understanding relevant sourcing options and analysis

- Ensuring effective Commercial Contract and Supplier Management

- Building and maintaining key relationships across the department and with external stakeholders

- Enabling and developing the department

Essential criteria:

- Commercial Focus: experience in a procurement, commercial, or buying role

- Risk and Assurance Management: ability to manage risks

- Commercial Ethics: applying standards to eliminate corruption, fraud, and unethical behavior

- Team Focus: ability to work as part of a team

- Build Relationships: communicating with stakeholders at all levels

Desirable criteria:

- Working knowledge of systems like Oracle and/or Jaggaer (Bravo)

- Awareness and understanding of public sector commercial principles and legislation

- Qualification in commercial management profession (CIPS, World CC, or similar)

The salary for this role is GBP 42,914 - 53,081 per year.
