## Description

We are seeking a collaborative and resourceful Data Engineer for our IT Data Platform Engineering Delivery team at Aviva Canada. You will be part of our Information Technology Enterprise Data Services Group and play a key role in leading the architecture, design, analysis, and implementation of data ecosystems that meet business requirements and align with Aviva's enterprise architecture goals and standards.

**Responsibilities:**

- Design, build, and operationalize large-scale enterprise data solutions in AWS and Snowflake

- Design and develop ETL pipelines to ingest data into the cloud from various data sources using Python and DBT

- Proficient in designing, scheduling, and managing data workflows using Apache Airflow

- Craft and develop solution designs for data acquisition, ingestion, integration, and data warehousing

- Advocate for data catalogs, data governance, and data quality practices

- Outstanding problem-solving skills

- Self-starter with experience working in a fast-paced agile development environment

- Outcome-focused with strong decision-making and critical thinking skills

**Requirements:**

- University degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science

- 5+ years of experience in crafting solutions for cloud, data lakes, data integrations, and data warehouses

- Proficient in AWS, Snowflake, Python, and DBT

- Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining automated workflows and system operations using Python and Apache Airflow

- Outstanding knowledge and experience in ETL/ELT development

- Experience implementing data governance principles and efficiencies

- Familiar with agile software development

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Insurance knowledge is an asset
