Telephone Technician II – (Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN))

As a Telephone Technician II you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Telephone Technician II joining our team to perform intermediate “hands on” work in support of installations, repair, and troubleshooting / maintenance of telecommunications systems.

**Responsibilities:**

- Performs installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems.

- Under direct supervision, determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installs communication circuits.

- Responds to emergency calls in the event of a system failure.

- Exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.

- Provides reports, completes requests for new service, and determines methodology for installing telephone service or other telecommunication technology.

**Requirements:**

- Education: Associates of Arts/Associates of Science

- Required Experience: 3+ years of related experience

- Required Technical Skills: Experience working with switches of interface Inter-Switch Trunks (ISTs) from DoW & commercial microwave/satellite systems, plus other equipment needed to extend voice transmissions across fiber or copper mediums.

- Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI

- Required Skills and Abilities: Makes major precision adjustments on switches, relays, and other electrical control devices for maximum operating efficiency.
