## Description

thatgamecompany（TGC）is the development team behind Sky 光·遇. We believe games can reach a wider audience and convey genuine emotions – this belief drives every technical decision we make, from gameplay engines, server architecture, and infrastructure.

The Shanghai engineering team is responsible for Sky's Gameplay, back-end services, game engine performance, and infrastructure logic. Our system faces real players worldwide, presenting real issues that require real decisions.

This internship program is designed to help you discover your strengths and interests. You won't be assigned to a fixed position at the start. Instead, you'll have time to explore, understand what our engineers do, and make your own choices.

**Internship Structure:**

- Weeks 1-3: Exploration Phase

You join our daily work rhythm, attending stand-ups, code reviews, and technical discussions. You'll observe and get hands-on experience with our existing engineering directions:

+ C++: Gameplay (game logic system design and implementation) and Game Engine (performance optimization and rendering) + Golang & Python: Back-end Services (server core logic) and DevOps & Infrastructure (cloud cluster management and AI toolchain)

- Week 4: Selection Phase

You and your mentor choose each other based on your interests and goals. We'll try to match you with a suitable mentor.

- After Week 4: In-depth Phase

You'll work on actual projects with your mentor, delivering meaningful results. We'll regularly review progress and encourage you to ask questions and contribute.

**Responsibilities:**

- Participate in gameplay system design discussions and code implementation

- Analyze and optimize game engine performance for better player experience

- Contribute to back-end service feature development, performance optimization, or issue troubleshooting

- Assist in maintaining and improving Kubernetes infrastructure and DevOps toolchain

**Requirements:**

- Currently enrolled in a computer science, software engineering, or related undergraduate or graduate program

- Solid computer science foundation: graphics, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, computer networks

- Practical programming experience in at least one language (C++, Go, Python)

- Strong curiosity, self-learning habits, and willingness to explore

- Good communication skills for effective collaboration

- Alignment with TGC's vision: games can positively impact society, and a passion for games

**Nice to Have:**

- Experience with game development projects (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
