## Description

We're looking for a Staff Data Scientist to shape the future of Pinterest's engagement ecosystem. You will develop a deep understanding of the Pinterest engagement ecosystem, lead projects on tradeoffs between organic engagement and advertising, and design and evaluate interventions that sustainably boost enterprise metrics.

Responsibilities:

- Develop a deep, nuanced understanding of the Pinterest engagement ecosystem and key product surfaces

- Lead projects on tradeoffs between organic engagement and advertising, deep dives on how engagement metrics impact monetization and retention, and understanding and predicting the value of core behaviors

- Design and productionize robust, scalable ML and evaluation frameworks

- Advocate for best-in-class experimentation, instrumentation, and metric design

- Collaborate across disciplines, translating complex data questions into actionable business insights

- Mentor and guide junior and senior scientists

- Use advanced ML, causal inference, and generative AI techniques to model and explain complex interactions across the Pinterest ecosystem

- Apply AI-assisted analysis and developer tools to accelerate exploration and improve code quality

- Champion responsible and scientifically rigorous use of AI across the ecosystem

Requirements:

- 10+ years of hands-on experience in web-scale data environments

- Deep expertise in Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling & Causal Inference, Product analytics/strategy, and Programming in Python/R and advanced SQL/Spark

- Strong product intuition and ability to scope, question, and design solutions for ill-defined business problems

- Scientific rigor and healthy skepticism

- Exceptional communication skills

- Track record mentoring and growing data talent

- Cross-functional leadership and ability to align competing interests towards shared goals

- Proven track record applying machine learning and/or causal inference to complex product or marketplace problems

- Hands-on experience with modern AI/ML tools and workflows
