## Description

The Engineering Manager will lead all engineering and design activities across the UK utility-scale solar and BESS portfolio, from early-stage development through construction and commissioning. This role is responsible for delivering robust, bankable, and cost-optimised designs, aligned with grid requirements, planning constraints, and construction best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading the engineering function across utility-scale solar and BESS projects in the UK

- Defining and implementing standards, processes, and best practices

- Acting as technical authority across development, EPC, and operations

- Building and scaling internal engineering capability

- Allocating resources across a multi-project pipeline

- Overseeing engineering from development through commissioning

- Ensuring designs are optimised for cost, constructability, and performance

- Managing external consultants to ensure quality and timely delivery

- Supporting handover into construction and providing delivery-phase support

- Overseeing system design, including layouts, DC/AC, and HV infrastructure

- Ensuring integration of substations, grid connections, protection systems, and SCADA

- Reviewing grid requirements, connection agreements, and planning conditions

- Overseeing grid studies and key engineering deliverables (SLDs, layouts, specs, BoQs)

- Ensuring compliance with UK Grid Code, G99/G100, and relevant standards

- Maintaining alignment with HSE requirements and industry best practices

- Staying current with evolving regulatory and technical requirements

- Acting as key technical interface for internal teams, lenders, and partners

- Supporting technical due diligence and managing independent engineers

- Collaborating across development, construction, and asset management

- Driving standardisation across designs, specifications, and processes

- Leading initiatives to improve efficiency, cost, and project performance

- Acting as escalation point for complex technical challenges
