## Description

The Week is seeking a skilled writer with news experience to join our national news and opinion magazine. As a writer, you will distill a broad range of news and opinion into thoughtful, succinct, and lively summaries in The Week's distinctive style.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Assessing the important news of the week in politics and culture to find the most important and engaging stories. Sifting, blending, and contrasting the opinions of columnists from the left, right, and center to help readers make sense of the news. Writing several articles for every issue in a format that values compression, clarity, wit, and brevity. Explaining the news in a way that gives busy readers “all they need to know about everything that matters" with an emphasis on accuracy and non-partisanship. Participating in the entire news team's planning of how to cover the news.

To succeed in this role, you will need a track record in news journalism to the highest standard, experience working at pace with appropriate sector knowledge, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

In return, you can expect a competitive salary of $62,000 - $75,000, uncapped leave, a share of our profits with a bonus, and a range of other great perks.
