Calling all experienced Labor & Delivery Nurses!

UNC REX is seeking a full-time Clinical Nurse II to join our fast-paced, high-volume Labor & Delivery team on the night shift (three 12-hour shifts per week). This is an exciting opportunity to provide critical, life-saving care in a highly collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

- At least one year of experience as an RN, preferably in Labor and Delivery or another inpatient Women's specialty.

- Experience in ICU, Stepdown, or Emergency Department settings is also welcome, with strong critical thinking skills, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to patient care.

- Strong teamwork and communication skills.

- Ability to think quickly and act decisively in high-acuity and emergency situations.

- Commitment to patient- and family-centered care.

About Our Unit: The UNC REX Labor & Delivery unit delivers comprehensive care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. We care for both routine and high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients in a modern, well-equipped setting that includes:

- 3-bay OB Emergency Department (OBED).

- 20 Labor Rooms.

- 3 Operating Rooms (ORs).

- 3 Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) bays.

Our nurses work closely with physicians, OB Hospitalists, Nursing Assistants, and Surgical Technologists to support Cesarean sections, emergency procedures, and complex obstetric care. We also partner with private practice OB/GYNs and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) to ensure exceptional maternal and newborn outcomes.

Responsibilities:

- Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self, and others, and supports patient safety initiatives.

- Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.

- Identifies expected patient outcomes.

- Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems.

- With assistance, develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations.

- Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care.

- Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care.

- Reads journals that contain studies or articles that may be applicable to practice.

Education Requirements:

- Graduate of Accredited Nursing Program.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

- NC RN Licensure.

- ACLS.

- BCLS.

- NRP.

Professional Experience Requirements:

- One year experience working as a licensed RN.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information and technical procedures.

- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
