## Description

Mastercard is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead engineering teams delivering secure, reliable, and scalable payment-network capabilities.

The role combines people leadership, technology direction, delivery accountability, and cross-functional partnership.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and develop 1-2 engineering teams.

- Set engineering direction aligned with product priorities, architecture standards, resiliency, security, and operational objectives.

- Own delivery outcomes across a portfolio of services, balancing customer commitments, technical investment, risk, and capacity.

- Build an inclusive, accountable engineering culture through hiring, coaching, succession planning, and career development.

- Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Operations, Security, and dependent programs to resolve priorities and delivery risks.

- Establish measurable standards for quality, automation, release readiness, reliability, and continuous improvement.

- Communicate portfolio status, risks, trade-offs, and decisions to senior leadership.

Essential Skills:

- Experience leading managers and multiple software engineering teams.

- Experience with large-scale, highly available platforms and modern software engineering practices.

- Working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, cloud-native delivery, CI/CD, and observability.

- Ability to translate business strategy into executable engineering plans and organizational priorities.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

- Experience working in Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle.

- Clear communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.

- Ability to work with globally distributed product, engineering, architecture, operations, and business teams.

- Experience managing two or more software development teams.

- Proven experience leading complex technology solutions from concept through design, delivery, and production adoption.

- Experience building resilient, operable solutions, with operational readiness considered from the start of development.

- People-management experience covering performance management, conflict resolution, coaching, and career development planning.

- Payments or financial-services domain knowledge is preferred.

Corporate Security Responsibility:

- Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices;

- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed;

- Report any suspected information security violation or breach, and

- Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
