The Cisco Common Platform Services (CCPS) organization is transforming how Cisco delivers software-as-a-service by providing a modern, consistent, and secure platform for all. With demonstrated ability, our global team brings innovative methodologies to building and managing hybrid cloud environments.

We are looking for a senior Operating System Software Engineer to join our Cloud Software & Solutions (CSS) group and build scalable cloud-native applications and services.

**Your Impact**

- Design and implement robust, high-performance backend services and APIs using Golang.

- Define, implement, and automate operating-system security and hardening standards, primarily for Linux environments.

- Establish secure OS baselines using recognized standards, and ensure systems remain compliant throughout their lifecycle.

- Partner with security and infrastructure teams to manage vulnerabilities, patching, access controls, audit logging, and security remediation.

- Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system availability, observability, performance, and reliability.

**Minimum Qualifications**

- 6+ years (BS) or 4+ years (MS) of experience in software development, systems engineering, or cloud/platform engineering roles.

- Strong proficiency in Go and experience building scalable, concurrent backend services and APIs.

- Deep proficiency in Linux system administration (RHEL/Ubuntu/Win), including advanced shell scripting, performance monitoring, and system-level debugging.

- Strong understanding of security principles and proven experience in applying security hardening to production systems.

- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve productivity, automate routine tasks, accelerate problem-solving, and enhance engineering quality.

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Experience with Python for scripting, automation, or data processing.

- Experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform.

- Knowledge of cloud-native technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or GCP.

- Familiarity with SELinux or AppArmor, identity and access management, security scanning, and compliance automation.

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and agile development methodologies.
